About the Artist

I make art for the emotions surrounding it--feeling moved by or connected to a piece of art. I’m always inspired to explore everyday things, moments, and places. The coffee shop where we always meet our friends, the food that makes us happy, how the light hits a space or that favorite walk we take. These emotions we carry with us throughout the everyday connect us to ourselves, God, and each other.

My current style within my paintings could be described as contemporary impressionism. I used to work within the style of realism, and I do enjoy many artists that work within that style. However, my current style is a very personal response to my history working with realism. I felt that I was never quite able to capture my own feelings within a piece. I am currently working with acrylic, pencil and charcoal. Most of the imagery explores a biblical thought, idea or passage that has made an impression on me.

I was burned out and didn’t do any personal art for many years. To me, my art is a freeing and returning of something that has been inside of me for a long time. Creating art is a faithfulness to the gift God has given me and an exercise in creativity that has changed and grown as I have grown as a person.

I received a BFA in Graphic Design from Salisbury University in 2011, where the painting and drawing classes were always my favorite. Graphic design will probably always influence the way I see and create art.
